Five Best Coaching Apps

Tablets and iPads should be a key part of every coach's toolkit when taking the pitch, especially for game days.  Here are five apps which every coach should have with them (will update this page regularly):

• SincSports  Free In Georgia and much of the Southeast, SincSports is the leading provider of online support for tournaments. If you don't have their app on your phone or tablet, then you and your parents aren't taking advantage of the communication and schedule tools at your fingertips.  Highlights include integration with GPS tools for navigation to venues, ability to save teams or events, and real-time information for schedules and changes.
• Coach's Clock  $0.99 This is a terrific tool to manage and record playing time for your teams, especially for coaches with multiple teams and/or large rosters.  The export to Excel option takes some getting used to, but once mastered you can keep up with accurate playing time stats.  This will help you with parent communication, as well as give you data to make any changes you need for players.  I advise you to have a Team Manager or parent help with this as it becomes difficult for coaches to use this during games.  It is a great tool to set up your starting line-ups, as well as keep up with who won't be at a game.
• CoachPad  $4.99  This replaces whiteboards, paper, and laying out cones to communicate coaching points with your team. 
• TeamSnap or Shutterfly Free  Most of our teams use Shutterfly Shared Sites as team pages.  Features include ability to communicate emails, set practice and game schedules with reminders, and record player availability.  A few teams prefer TeamSnap, which has greater functionality for a paid version.
