What is our U8 Pre-Academy Program?

Just completing our 15th season, our U8 Pre-Academy program is unrivaled for the value and preparation our players receive. 1st and 2nd graders find our program to be a terrific jump-start for those players who want more at an early age. The U8 age group contains players born 1/1/2011-12/31/2012, with 2013 birth year players invited for evaluations.  This is a co-ed program, although we have gender-specific activities throughout the year.

Players vary significantly at this age group; physically, athletically, maturity, and interest. We continue to refine our program, not only from benchmarking best practices but also from the input of our parents, coaches, and trainers.

Cost is $950 for the year (August 2017-May 2018) plus uniform cost of $227.50.  There is a -$100 discount if players pay in full on or before August 15.  Players added for the Spring 2018 season have a cost of $475 plus uniform cost of $227.50.  The uniform is used for Fall 2018-Spring 2020.

The U8 Pre-Academy program is specifically designed to accelerate development of U8 players transitioning to Academy soccer.

The U8 Pre-Academy Program features the following:

• The primary goal of our U8 Pre-Academy program is Player Development, working to maximize the potential of each player in a fun, challenging environment. Players focus on Advanced Skills, including dribbling techniques, passing, and 1v1 play. Players also will learn tactical areas of soccer, including proper positioning during games.
• Players will attend two ninety-minute practices per week led by one of our US Soccer licensed trainer (D license or above). Games are a combination of scrimmages, small-sided play, and games against other clubs.
• Each team will have a volunteer Team Manager to coordinate communication with the team.
• Practices begin the middle of August through the middle of November twice a week.  The Spring season runs mid-February through Mid-May.
• Training is held at Shakerag Elementary School, with games either at Shakerag or at other local clubs. Travel is limited for U8 Pre-Academy. There will be no tryouts for the U8 Pre-Academy program in compliance with GA Soccer guidelines. Roster space may be limited. Registrations will be processed as they are received, so it is important to register as early as possible.
